Taper Lock Bush
Flangeless mechanical locking mechanism designed to securely mount pulleys, sprockets, and couplings onto cylindrical drive shafts. It operates using a split, tapered outer surface that fits into a matching tapered hub bore; as set screws are tightened, the bushing is driven axially into the hub, compressing its split sleeve radially onto the shaft. This creates a high-friction, backlash-free interference fit that reliably transmits high torque without damaging the shaft keyway or requiring complex machining.
